Overview
Dovyalis hebecarpa Seeds 15 pcs Tropical Fruit Shrub with Small Dark Purple Fruits for Indoor and Greenhouse Cultivation

This set offers 15 seeds of the Dovyalis hebecarpa species, an attractive tropical fruit shrub native to Southeast Asia. The plant is characterised by small round fruits that gradually change colour from yellow-green to orange to deep dark purple, almost black, often featuring small light spots on the surface when fully ripe. The shrub has vibrant green leaves and, when mature, forms a dense growth suitable for cultivation as a solitary plant or in groups. The set with 15 seeds is ideal for growers who wish to produce several strong seedlings and gradually cultivate their own fruit plants. Growing from seed is a proven way to obtain this relatively exotic plant without the need to source ready-made seedlings.

Before sowing, we recommend soaking the seeds in lukewarm water for 12 to 24 hours to activate them and facilitate germination. Sow in a well-draining substrate composed of peat and sand to a depth of about half to one centimetre, press down lightly, and water carefully. Germination occurs best at a temperature range of 22 to 28 °C and stable air humidity, which is best maintained in a mini greenhouse or under foil. The germination period typically ranges from two to six weeks. Young seedlings thrive in a bright but slightly shaded location and require regular watering without waterlogging the roots. In cooler climates, we recommend growing the plant in a container so it can be moved to a frost-free room with adequate light and temperatures around 12 to 15 °C during winter.

This fruit tree represents a delightful choice for anyone who enjoys cultivating lesser-known exotic fruit species. Colourful fruits during the ripening period create the main visual decoration of the plant, and each shrub gradually acquires its distinctive appearance. In a temperate European climate, it is necessary to grow the plant in a container that can be adapted to the season and, if necessary, moved to a sheltered space. The set of fifteen seeds provides a suitable quantity for a more varied sowing with a reserve for selecting the most vigorous individuals. Home-grown tropical fruit shrubs are a valuable addition to any collector's botanical collection and also make an original gift for enthusiasts of exotic plants.
