DDR4 computer memory RAM with a capacity of 16 GB is designed for desktop computers that run multiple demanding programmes simultaneously. The module operates at a frequency of 2400 MHz with a designation of PC4-19200, corresponding to a theoretical bandwidth of 19,200 MB/s. The DIMM format with 288 pins fits into desktop DDR4 slots on both Intel and AMD motherboards. Sixteen gigabytes on a single module leaves other slots free for future expansion. The chips are protected by a moulded cover in black.
- Capacity 16 GB – space for running games, browsers, and communication applications simultaneously, for video editing, high-resolution photo editing, or running virtual machines. The system, thanks to the larger memory volume, less frequently swaps data to disk. For dual-channel operation, the module can be complemented with a second unit with matching parameters, bringing the total memory to 32 GB.
- Frequency 2400 MHz – this clock speed is among the basic speeds of DDR4, with which the vast majority of motherboards and processors of this generation operate. Therefore, the module is also suitable for older setups that do not support higher frequencies. If a faster memory is installed in the computer, all modules usually adjust to the lowest common clock speed.
- Power Supply – the memory uses standard voltage of 1.2 V defined for DDR4. The motherboard recognises it automatically upon installation, and manual adjustments in the BIOS are usually unnecessary.
- No ECC – the module does not have ECC error correction functionality. This configuration is used by the vast majority of consumer motherboards; ECC modules are typically found in servers and workstations.
- Contacts and Installation – 288 pins are arranged with a notch off-centre, so the module can only be inserted into the slot in one direction. It is inserted vertically until the side latches of the slot click into the notches at both ends of the module.
- Compatibility – the memory is designed for Intel and AMD motherboards with DDR4 DIMM slots. It is advisable to check the maximum capacity per slot in the motherboard specifications before purchasing, as this is a crucial detail for 16 GB modules. Faulty or damaged goods
