Overview
Cardiocrinum giganteum Giant Lily Seeds 20 pcs Rare Mountain Bulb with White-Pink Tubes for Sowing and Collectors' Cultivation

A larger pack of 20 seeds of the giant cardiocrinum represents an economical choice for growers who wish to engage with this extraordinary Himalayan bulb in the long term. The species grows in its natural habitat in moist forests of higher altitudes in the Himalayas, northeastern India, Bhutan, and southern China, where it forms rare solitary specimens among other mountain species. The main decorative features of the plant are its majestic upright flower stalks bearing numerous tubular flowers in white-cream colour with contrasting reddish stripes in the throat, which cover mature specimens in an impressive pyramid. Accompanied by large heart-shaped dark green leaves that emerge from the base of the plant. Due to its slow growth and long-term development, the larger pack represents a more logical investment for true enthusiasts and advanced collectors of unusual bulbs.

For larger packs, we recommend dividing the sowing into several trays and comparing different stratification regimes, which can determine the most suitable procedure for your own growing conditions. Cardiocrinum seeds traditionally have double dormancy, which needs to be broken by a combination of cold and warm phases – it has proven effective to let the sowing naturally overwinter in a sheltered outdoor location. After germination, the plants grow slowly in the first years and gradually form a strong bulb, from which an enormous flower stalk will later emerge. Due to its monocarpic nature, the plant dies after flowering, leaving bulblets in the soil that ensure the continuation of cultivation in subsequent years. For successful long-term cultivation, it is advisable to grow the plant in partial shade under deciduous trees or in moist forest shady plantings, which best mimic the natural habitat in the Himalayas. This pack of 20 seeds of Cardiocrinum giganteum is therefore an excellent choice for serious collectors planning systematic work with this rare bulb.
