Overview
Achromatic Objective 4x for Biological Microscope with Aperture 0.10 for 160 mm Tube and Conjugate Distance 185 mm in Silver

The achromatic objective with a magnification of 4x is designed for biological microscopes and is used for overview observation of specimens at the lowest magnification. The silver body of the objective is marked with a numerical aperture of 0.10 and the specification 160/0.17, indicating a mechanical tube length of 160 mm and a cover glass thickness of 0.17 mm. The conjugate distance of the objective is 185 mm, which is an important specification when selecting a replacement for an existing microscope. Achromatic correction reduces colour fringes around the edges of observed structures, making their outlines clearer. The compact objective is suitable as a spare part, for complementing a revolving nosepiece, or as an enhancement to the equipment of a school or home laboratory.

  • Magnification 4x – the lowest level of magnification in a standard set of objectives, at which the desired area on the specimen can be easily located, the overall appearance of the sample can be checked, and only then is a stronger objective switched to.
  • Numerical Aperture 0.10 – the value marked on the body of the objective next to the magnification, which allows the objective to be easily compared with other objectives in the set and correctly identified during replacement.
  • 160 mm Tube and 0.17 mm Cover Glass – the objective is designed for microscopes with a mechanical tube length of 160 mm and for specimens covered with a cover glass of thickness 0.17 mm.
  • Conjugate Distance 185 mm – the specification used to verify whether the objective matches the optical system of the microscope and whether the image will be correctly focused after replacement.
  • Achromatic Design – the correction of chromatic aberration helps maintain sharp outlines of cells, tissues, and other small structures in biological specimens, whether they are stained sections or native samples from nature.
  • Compact Design – the objective has a thread for screwing into a revolving nosepiece, a red stripe for quick identification, and a black knurled section for a firm grip during installation.

Contents of the package:

  • 1x achromatic objective 4x

The 4x objective forms the basis of any biological microscope assembly, as it is with this that the majority of specimens are initially examined. Before purchasing, it is advisable to compare the parameters of existing objectives, particularly the mechanical tube length of 160 mm, conjugate distance of 185 mm, and the markings on the body, where the numerical aperture of 0.10 is indicated. If the specifications match, the objective can serve as a replacement for a damaged part or as an addition to a missing position in the revolving nosepiece. The marked values on the silver body and the red stripe facilitate orientation when working with multiple objectives simultaneously, for example, during teaching when the microscope is often switched between different magnifications. Thanks to its compact size, the objective can easily be stored in a box with other microscope accessories, where it will remain ready for further use.
