Overview
10x Achromatic Biological Microscope Objective Silver with Yellow Stripe with Aperture 0.25 and Conjugate Distance 185 mm

The biological microscope objective with a magnification of 10x serves as the main working objective for standard viewing of specimens, when it is necessary to see a larger part of the sample while also recognising its basic structure. The silver casing displays the designation 10/0.25, indicating the magnification and numerical aperture of 0.25. Below this is the specification 160/0.17 for a mechanical tube length of 160 mm and a cover glass thickness of 0.17 mm. The achromatic optics reduce colour fringes around the outlines, keeping the image clear even with stained specimens that have pronounced contrasts between different parts of the sample. The objective is suitable for microscopes when its optics operate with a conjugate distance of 185 mm.

  • Tenfold Magnification – suitable for the initial examination of the sample, orientation on the slide, and observing tissues, cells, or small organisms as a whole before switching to a stronger objective.
  • Aperture 0.25 – the value indicated after the slash on the casing, which helps to classify the objective within the assembly and compare it with other objectives of the same type.
  • Optics for 160 mm Tube – the objective is designed for microscopes with a mechanical tube length of 160 mm and for specimens with a cover glass thickness of 0.17 mm.
  • Dry Objective – operates without immersion oil, allowing the front lens to be gently wiped clean of dust after observation, making the objective ready for immediate reuse.
  • Yellow Distinguishing Stripe – the coloured ring below the description differentiates the 10x objective from others in the revolving nosepiece and facilitates quick checking of which magnification is currently set, even during rapid rotation of the nosepiece during observation.
  • Thread and Knurled Grip – the upper thread is used to screw the objective into the microscope head, and the black knurled part at the bottom allows for a firm grip during assembly and disassembly.

Contents of the package:

  • 1x 10x Achromatic Objective

The tenfold objective is typically in use the longest when working with the microscope, as it is used to locate the area on the specimen, check the focus, and assess the overall appearance of the sample. When the original objective is missing or no longer provides a clear image, it is advisable to select a replacement with the same parameters, particularly with a conjugate distance of 185 mm and tube length of 160 mm. The compact objective with achromatic optics and yellow stripe can be used independently or as part of a set with other objectives of varying magnifications. It is useful in schools during natural science lessons, in biological clubs, and for home observations of leaves, onion skins, pollen, or water samples. When stored, it is advisable to protect the front lens from dust and fingerprints to keep the image clear, preferably in a closed box together with other objectives.
