Cheburashka Weights
Rigs with a detachable weight are a popular solution when fishing soft plastics. Cheburashka weights are shaped like a ball with two eyes joined by a link, into which the hook with the lure is clipped. The advantage is the quick swap of individual parts right at the water.
Weight is chosen according to depth, current and lure size. Lighter versions sink slowly and suit calm water, while heavier ones keep bottom contact even in stronger current or when fishing from a boat. It is precisely that sensitive bottom contact that matters in this technique.
Alongside classic lead, tungsten versions are also made, which are smaller for the same weight and transmit bottom taps better. The difference shows mainly with a lot of line out or at greater depths.
Cheburashka weights are combined with twisters, shads and whole soft fish. Their simple construction lets you change hook and weight size according to how active the fish are and react quickly to changing conditions during a session.
