Camera Memory Cards

The right storage is important for reliably saving photos and videos. Camera memory cards differ in type, capacity and speed, which affects their use for everyday shooting and more demanding work. The most commonly used are SD, SDHC or SDXC cards with various speed classes.

Camera Memory Cards

When choosing a memory card for your camera, the type of card matters most. SD, SDHC and SDXC cards differ mainly in capacity, so it is worth checking which format your device supports before buying. SD cards offer up to 2 GB, SDHC up to 32 GB and SDXC as much as 2 TB.

Just as important is the write and read speed, which determines how quickly the camera saves images and video to the card. A higher speed is essential for continuous shooting, RAW files and 4K recording, where slower cards can cause delays or dropped frames.

Speed is indicated by markings such as Class 10, UHS-I or UHS-II. For everyday photography a Class 10 card is usually sufficient, while more demanding work benefits from the faster UHS standards. Many cards are also resistant to water, dust, shocks and extreme temperatures.

Before buying, always check the compatibility of the card with your particular camera model. The right choice ensures reliable performance, enough space for your photos and videos, and peace of mind that your memories are safely stored.
