The individual guitar string with a thickness of 009 is designed for players who have broken or worn out just one string and do not wish to buy an entire set for that reason. The designation 009 indicates the diameter of the string in thousandths of an inch, that is, 0.009 inches, which corresponds to approximately 0.23 mm. Before fitting a new string, loosen and remove the old one, insert the ball of the new string into the bridge, and thread the free end through the hole in the tuning peg. While winding, keep the string slightly taut to create several neat wraps around the peg. The new string will stretch in the first few days, so tune it more frequently. After playing, wipe it with a dry cloth and store it in the bag in a dry place until use.
