Laboratory supplies and consumables
No experiment works without the basic supplies, whether in a school lab, home chemistry or a professional workplace. Here you'll find beakers, flasks and measuring cylinders, test tubes with racks, pipettes, Petri dishes, filter paper, indicator paper and protective gloves.
Laboratory supplies and consumables
Beakers, Erlenmeyer flasks and measuring cylinders made of borosilicate glass withstand rapid temperature changes and most chemicals; beakers and flasks can be heated, and all of them can be washed again and again. Polypropylene versions are lighter and shatter-resistant, which makes them suitable for schools and fieldwork.
Consumables include disposable Pasteur pipettes, Petri dishes for culturing microorganisms, filter paper, pH strips and nitrile gloves. It pays to always keep them in stock, as they are used up with every experiment and reusing them could skew the results. Petri dishes and pipettes usually come sterile-packed, so they can be used straight out of the packaging.
Test tube racks, laboratory spoons, tweezers, tongs and wash bottles with distilled water keep the bench tidy. When working with acids and bases, don't forget safety goggles, and always label containers holding solutions to avoid mix-ups.
