Overview
Galton Board 42 x 32 cm Demonstration Model of Normal Distribution PVC Black Frame White Balls Educational Tool for Physics and Statistics

The Galton board, also known as the Dalton board, is a classic demonstration tool that vividly shows the emergence of normal distribution. The board, measuring 42 x 32 cm, is large enough for the entire class to see clearly during instruction. The frame and body of the tool are made from PVC, and the board is designed for repeated experiments in both schools and laboratories. Inside, there is a reservoir with white balls, a field of metal pins, and a series of vertical compartments. As the balls pass through the pins, they randomly bounce left and right, gradually accumulating in the compartments to form a typical bell shape.

This tool is intended for laboratory teaching and practical experiments in the subject of physics. It is suitable for primary and secondary schools, but can also be used by instructors in courses and training sessions where it is necessary to clearly explain randomness, probability, and statistical distribution. Instead of abstract graphs on the board, students observe a real experiment that can be repeated at any time. Each ball represents one random trial, and the resulting distribution in the compartments corresponds to what is described by binomial and normal distribution. This way, students connect theory with what they see with their own eyes, making the material easier to remember for later revision.

  • Type of Tool – Galton (Dalton) board for demonstrating normal distribution
  • Dimensions – 42 x 32 cm
  • Material – PVC
  • Design – flat board with a black frame
  • Internal Arrangement – reservoir of balls shaped like an hourglass, field of metal pins, and vertical compartments
  • Balls – white, stored inside the board
  • Subject – physics, also suitable for mathematics and statistics
  • Purpose – schools, teaching, training, and laboratory work
  • Contents of Package – Galton board with balls stored inside

For the experiment, simply set up or tilt the board so that the balls from the reservoir begin to fall between the pins. The balls are stored directly inside the board, so there is no need to prepare or refill them before the experiment. Thanks to the shape of the reservoir resembling an hourglass, the experiment can be easily repeated after turning the board, and it can be observed that the resulting shape of the curve is consistently very similar each time. The surface can be wiped with a dry or slightly damp cloth, and the board should be stored flat, away from direct sunlight and heat sources.

The PVC Galton board is a practical and illustrative tool for any physics or mathematics classroom. The large area of 42 x 32 cm allows the experiment to be observed even from the back desks, making it suitable for both frontal teaching and group work. The tool helps students understand why the results of many random phenomena cluster around the average and why extreme values are rarer. It can be used in the explanation of probability, statistics, binomial distribution, and in laboratory exercises. It will be appreciated by physics and mathematics teachers, instructors of educational courses, and anyone who wants to demonstrate randomness and normal distribution clearly and in practice.
