Overview
Brumle Drumbla 11.5 x 4 cm Medium Size Stainless Steel Frame Chrome Finish Jew's Harp Mouth Instrument for Folk and Ethno Music

The medium-sized brumle is a popular mouth instrument with a long tradition, also known as a drumbla or Jew's harp. The frame measures 11.5 x 4 x 0.3 cm and is made of stainless steel with a chrome silver finish. Between the two arms is a dark tongue, whose end is bent into a hook, which is plucked with a finger while playing. The frame is placed against slightly open teeth, the tongue vibrates, and the tone is shaped by the mouth, tongue, and breath. Thanks to stainless steel, the frame is sturdy and easy to keep clean.

The medium size is a good compromise between portability and comfortable holding in the fingers. The instrument is easy to hold while playing and still fits comfortably in a jacket pocket, backpack, or case. The tongue is attached to the oval head of the frame with two screws, which are visible on the back of the instrument. You can use the brumle when playing folk songs, as a rhythmic accompaniment to guitar or drum, during improvisation, or in meditation with sound, or as an interesting enhancement to a musical evening with friends. By combining breath control and mouth shape, a wide range of overtones can be produced.

  • Type of instrument – brumle or drumbla
  • Size – medium
  • Dimensions – 11.5 x 4 x 0.3 cm
  • Frame material – stainless steel
  • Frame colour – chrome silver
  • Tongue – dark with a hook at the end
  • Tongue attachment – two screws on the head of the frame
  • Suitable for – beginners and advanced players
  • Package contents – 1 medium-sized brumle

After each use, wipe the brumle dry with a soft cloth and store it in a dry place, ideally in a case or box, to prevent the tongue from deforming. Do not bend the tongue sideways, and when playing, pluck it only with the tip of your finger, either away from or towards yourself. The tongue should not touch the teeth to allow it to vibrate freely. At the beginning, it is good to practice playing slowly, first just one repeated note, and only then add changes in mouth shape and rhythm. With regular practice, playing improves quickly, and the instrument will start to respond even to subtle changes in breath.

The medium-sized brumle is a versatile choice for anyone looking to expand their collection of musical instruments with a traditional mouth harp. The length of 11.5 cm fits well in the fingers while keeping the instrument small and easily portable. The frame with a chrome finish and the dark tongue have a simple and clean appearance. The instrument will be appreciated by musicians playing folk and ethnic music, music education teachers, and those seeking an unconventional musical instrument for travel. The frame's metal thickness of 3 mm ensures the instrument maintains a stable shape.
