Overview
Brumle Drumbla 10.5 x 5 cm Metal Mouth Harp with Round Frame Pocket Folk Musical Instrument for Beginners

The brumle with a round frame head is a pocket musical instrument with a distinctive shape resembling a small spade. It measures 10.5 x 5 cm and due to its flat profile, it fits comfortably in a pocket, backpack, or case. The wide circular head has an oval hole in the centre, from which a flexible tongue with a bent tip emerges. The frame tapers downwards into two arms, between which the tongue vibrates freely. The brumle, also known as drumbla or mouth harp, is played using the mouth, which acts as a resonator.

No musical knowledge or experience is required to play. The arms of the frame are lightly pressed against slightly open teeth, the lips are relaxed, and the finger plucks the bent end of the tongue. By changing the shape of the mouth, the position of the tongue, and the breath, the pitch and timbre of the tone can be altered. The tongue is attached to the frame head by two screws. The wide head is easy to hold in the palm, and the instrument remains stable while playing.

The brumle is featured in folk music from many countries and is still used in throat singing, ethnic music, and during meditation. The vibrating tone complements singing, guitar, and drums well, adding an unusual atmosphere to group playing. With regular practice, you will learn to alternate between fast and slow beats, emphasise individual harmonic tones, and create your own rhythmic patterns. The round head of the frame also serves as a good support point for the fingers, making it easy to maintain the instrument in the correct position while playing. Thus, the brumle is suitable for both beginners and more experienced players.

At first, pluck gently and find the position where the tongue vibrates freely and does not touch the teeth. Just lightly rest the frame and do not grip it tightly. After each use, wipe the instrument with a dry cloth and store it separately from heavier objects to prevent the tongue from bending. The brumle is perfect for campfires, travelling, music circles, and quiet moments at home.

The brumle with a round frame head is an easy-to-handle instrument with which you will discover the charm of traditional folk music. It is suitable for playing for joy, for relaxation, for throat singing, and as an original gift for music lovers. Learning the basic technique can be mastered by anyone in no time, and further tones will come with practice. The metal frame and flat shape make it a durable instrument that you can always carry with you.
