For the best results, first roll out the dough or fondant with a smooth roller to an even thickness, and then pass the embossing roller over it in one smooth motion with slight pressure. Lightly dust sticky dough with flour or icing sugar, and you can dust fondant with cornflour. After use, rinse the roller with warm water and a bit of detergent, remove any dough remnants from the grooves with a soft brush, and allow it to dry thoroughly.
