Before purchasing, please check the thread diameter of your lens. It is usually indicated on the front of the lens, on the barrel, or on the inner side of the original cap, typically with the diameter symbol and a number in millimetres. Screw the filter and hood on straight and gently to avoid damaging the thread, and tighten them just enough to hold securely. The longer cutouts of the hood should face up and down, while the shorter ones should face sideways. Attach the strap by connecting one end to the cap and the other to the lens or camera strap. Clean the filter with a soft optical cloth, and simply blow off or wipe the dust from the hood with a dry cloth.
