Bike shocks and forks

For full-suspension mountain bikes you’ll find coil and air rear shocks in lengths of 125–200 mm, plus reducer bushings for mounting them in the frame. The coil models also suit electric scooters. Eye-to-eye length, stroke and eye width are what matter when choosing.

Bike shocks and forks

Coil rear shocks come in lengths of 125, 150, 165 and 190 mm. Spring rates range from 250 to 2000 lbs, so you can choose a model to suit rider weight and riding style. Some models have adjustable damping, and one type combines the spring with oil damping. According to the manufacturer, they suit mountain bikes and electric scooters.

Air rear shocks let you adjust the stiffness easily via air pressure. They are 125–200 mm long with 18–55 mm of stroke, most with a 24 mm wide eye and an 8 mm bolt hole. The models for full-suspension mountain bikes, from 152 × 31 to 190 × 51 mm, have a lockout.

For fitting there are rear shock reducer bushings with a 12 mm outer and 8 mm inner diameter in lengths of 22–56 mm. They go into the shock eye and adapt it to the mounting width of the frame. Before buying a shock, measure the eye-to-eye length, stroke and mounting width.
