Overview
Variable ND Filter ND2–ND1000 52 mm KnightX Float Glass Aluminium Frame 6061 Black For Long Exposure With Mobile Phone and Camera

The KnightX variable ND filter serves to reduce the amount of light that reaches the sensor of a camera or phone. By rotating the front part, you can smoothly adjust the darkness in the range of ND2 to ND1000, allowing one filter to replace an entire set of fixed ND filters. This means you can use longer exposure times even on bright days to capture blurred water, moving clouds, or light trails. The filter has a thread diameter of 52 mm and can be used on lenses with this thread or on a phone clip with a 52 mm ring. It is suitable for landscape photography as well as video recording.

The optical element is made from high-quality float glass and the frame is constructed from ultra-thin aluminium 6061 with a black finish. The frame features laser-engraved labels and MIN and MAX markings that indicate the range of adjustment. If you rotate past the MAX mark, a dark cross may appear in the image, which is a common optical phenomenon of variable ND filters. Simply rotate the filter back to the MIN side.

The ND filter does not alter the colours of the scene, it only uniformly reduces light across the entire image area. When recording video, this allows you to maintain a natural shutter speed, resulting in smooth motion without stuttering. In photography, you can use longer exposure times in sunlight to create silky smooth water, blurred crowds, or softly out-of-focus clouds. The smooth adjustment allows for quick responses to changing light without the need to change filters.

Screw the filter onto the lens or into the clip and rotate the front part until you achieve the desired exposure. For long exposure times, it is advisable to place the phone or camera on a tripod. Clean the optical surface with a soft optical cloth and store the filter in a case to prevent scratches. Before attaching, ensure the thread is clean and that the filter screws on easily without pressure.

The KnightX variable ND filter is a useful tool for creative photography and video in daylight. One filter covers a wide darkening range of ND2 to ND1000 and saves space in your camera bag. The frame, with a thickness of 6.3 mm, is made from durable aluminium and the markings will remain readable for a long time. You will appreciate the filter for waterfalls, rivers, the sea, and when recording video with smooth motion. It can be attached in seconds and is controlled simply by rotation.
