The set contains 2 test tubes for ant keeping, each with a side filling port with a black cap near the closed end. The tubes have a diameter of 18 mm and a length of 180 mm, a size keepers often use for nests of young colonies. The filling port lets you add water to the nest reservoir without having to open the tube and disturb the queen or the workers. The tubes are transparent, so you can clearly see the whole colony, eggs and larvae. They are suitable for keepers who want to keep the test tube nest long term without frequently moving the ants.

The closed part of the tube serves as a water reservoir, which you separate from the living space with a cotton plug or another suitable filling. When the water in the reservoir runs low, simply remove the cap, add water, for example with a syringe, and put the cap back on. The open end of the tube serves as the nest entrance and can be closed with cotton wool or inserted into the holder of an ant farm or feeding arena.
