The stainless steel bread razor is a simple helper for anyone who bakes sourdough bread, baguettes, or rolls at home. The handle and blade holder are made from a single piece of stainless steel, at the end of which is secured a replaceable razor blade. The total length of the handle is 14.5 cm, allowing for a comfortable and secure grip while working. The razor blade is used to score the surface of the risen dough just before baking. Scoring helps the bread rise in the oven in a controlled manner and creates the desired pattern on the crust.
The blade is attached to the handle with a small screw, so you can easily replace it with a new one at any time. A double-sided razor blade measuring 4.3 x 2.2 cm is used, which can be flipped and utilised from both sides. When working, hold the razor lightly and make the cut in one smooth motion just before placing the dough in the oven. Make the cut deep by approximately a few millimetres, depending on the shape of the crust you wish to achieve. After use, carefully wipe the blade and rinse the handle with warm water, then dry thoroughly. Place the case on the blade, which protects both the blade and your fingers while also preventing damage to other items in the kitchen drawer. When replacing the blade, proceed carefully and tighten the screw so that the blade holds firmly. Dispose of used blades safely wrapped to prevent anyone from cutting themselves.
