The set contains 2 test tubes with a ready-made ant nest, filled inside with a plaster filling with a corridor for the colony to move through. The tubes have a diameter of 18 mm and a length of 180 mm, a size keepers commonly use for young colonies. At the closed end there is a water reservoir filled with pebbles, separated from the living area by a red partition. Moisture from the reservoir gradually seeps into the plaster and maintains the environment the queen and brood need in the nest. It suits keepers who do not want to prepare the nest themselves and prefer a ready-made solution.
You add water to the reservoir through the side filling port, which is protected by a black cap, so you do not need to open the tube or disturb the ants. The plaster filling forms a corridor along the tube where the ants move and place eggs and larvae. The transparent wall of the tube lets you watch the life of the colony up close. The open end serves as the entrance and can be closed with cotton wool or inserted into the holder of an ant farm or feeding arena. To shade the nest, you can wrap the tube in paper or cloth, as ants prefer dim light in the nest.

Before introducing the ants, fill the reservoir with water and let the plaster become moist to create a pleasant humid environment in the nest. Add water slowly and do not overfill the reservoir, so that water does not get into the living area. Place the tubes in a shaded spot away from direct sunlight and heat sources so that the plaster does not dry out too quickly. Check the moisture by the colour of the plaster, which is darker when wet, and add water as needed. If mould appears on the plaster, move the colony to the second tube and clean the used one.

How do I return goods?
