The set contains 2 test tubes with a ready-made ant nest whose interior is divided by red partitions into three chambers, much like the segments of a bamboo cane. The tubes are 18 mm in diameter and 180 mm long, a size keepers commonly use for young and smaller colonies. At the closed end there is a water reservoir filled with pebbles, from which moisture gradually seeps into the nest. The chambers are connected by openings, so the ants can move freely between the individual sections. Dividing the nest allows the colony to keep the queen, brood and food stores in separate spaces.
You top up the water through the side filling hole, which is protected by a black cap, so there is no need to open the tube or disturb the ants. The transparent wall of the tube lets you watch life in each chamber separately and follow how the colony grows. The open end serves as the nest entrance and can be plugged with cotton wool or inserted into the holder of an ant farm or feeding arena. To shade the nest you can wrap the tube in paper or fabric, as ants prefer dim conditions in the nest. A growing colony can gradually occupy more chambers as the number of workers increases.

Before introducing the ants, fill the reservoir with water and let the nest filling soak through so that a suitable environment forms inside. Add water slowly and do not overfill the reservoir, so that water does not reach the living chambers. Place the tubes in a shaded spot away from direct sunlight and heat sources so the nest does not dry out too quickly. Check the moisture regularly and add water as needed, especially in the warm months. If mould appears in any chamber, move the colony to the second tube and clean the used one.
The three-chamber nest in 18 x 180 mm test tubes gives the colony a varied space reminiscent of natural tunnels and chambers. The water reservoir with a filling hole makes moisture care easier and reduces disturbance to the ants. You can use the tubes on their own or connect them to an arena or ant farm. How do I return goods?
