Hobs and induction cookers cover cooking in a new kitchen, a holiday home or a caravan. Choose from built-in gas hobs with two to five burners, powerful induction cookers with touch controls and a small electric hotplate for quick reheating.
Hobs and induction cookers
Built-in gas hobs have cast-iron supports, knob ignition and a gas leak safety device. The smallest, 29 × 50 cm, has two burners; the largest, 68 × 50 cm, has five totalling 10.46 kW. The 3.4 kW triple-crown wok burner handles stir-frying. Jets suit natural gas and LPG.
Induction cookers rated at 3,500 W heat the pan base directly, so water boils fast and the surroundings stay cooler. The 42 × 35 cm glass-ceramic top has a stainless steel frame, and the touch panel offers 8 or 10 power levels and a timer. At 3,500 W they draw more than a standard 13 A plug allows, so they need a dedicated circuit fitted by an electrician. The 100 mm, 500 W electric hotplate warms up coffee or a small portion.
Induction works only with cookware with a magnetic base; check it by holding a magnet to the bottom. Have the gas hob connected by a Registered Gas Installer (RGII), who will check it for leaks and change the jets for your gas type if needed.
