UNI-T UT387S is a multifunctional measuring device that, in addition to wall detection, also offers a laser distance meter and wood moisture measurement. It can find ferrous metals up to a depth of 100 mm, non-ferrous metals up to 80 mm, wooden beams, and live wires with alternating current. The laser measures distances from 0.05 to 40 m, and the built-in probe determines wood moisture in the range of 6 to 40 % with an accuracy of ±2 %. The measured values are displayed on a 2.4-inch colour screen, and the device also announces them audibly. It is intended for craftsmen, carpenters, electricians, and DIY enthusiasts who want to have all measurements in one device.
The UT387S model display can show three data points simultaneously, so during continuous measurement, you can see the current, minimum, and maximum distances. The distance meter can perform single and continuous measurements, area calculations, indirect measurements according to Pythagoras' theorem, and addition or subtraction of values in metres, feet, or inches. It can store up to 30 measurements in memory. The moisture meter probe is protected by a removable cover and measures up to a depth of 8 mm, which is useful for checking firewood, lumber, or wooden floors.

When searching in the wall, place the device with the felt pads against the wall and move it slowly and evenly. To measure moisture, remove the probe cover and replace it after measuring. The laser will automatically turn off after 20 seconds, and the entire detector will turn off after 5 minutes of inactivity. You can recharge the battery via the USB-C connector, and store the device in the included case.
UNI-T UT387S replaces three tools: a wall detector, a laser distance meter, and a wood moisture meter. It is suitable for renovations, furniture assembly, laying wooden floors, and checking wood for heating. The compact body measuring 160 x 68 x 31 mm easily fits into the pocket of work trousers or a bag. The audible announcement and clear colour display make reading results easier. The device withstands a fall from a height of 1 m and charges from a standard charger with a USB cable.
