Overview
Thread Milling Cutter M24 x 3 mm With One Tooth Shank 16 mm Solid Carbide Sintered Carbide Silver CNC Milling Machines Threads M24

The thread milling cutter M24 x 3 mm has one tooth with a thread profile and is used for milling metric threads on CNC milling machines and machining centres. It is made entirely of sintered carbide, a hard material commonly used for precision cutting tools. The thread is not created by a tap but by gradual milling along the helix, which is controlled by the machine's programme. At the end of the tool is a cutting head with a single row of thread profile, followed by a narrower neck and a cylindrical shank with a diameter of 16 mm. The surface of the cutter is silver.

  • Dimension M24 and pitch 3 mm — the cutter is designed for a metric thread with a nominal diameter of 24 mm and a pitch of 3 mm, which is the standard coarse pitch for M24. M24 threads are used, for example, in screw connections of large machine parts, load-bearing structures, or heavy frames.
  • One thread tooth — the cutting head carries a single row of thread profile. The thread is formed gradually, and its length is set in the programme.
  • Movement along the helix of 3 mm — the cutter rotates around the axis of the thread and moves vertically by one pitch with each rotation. This movement is called helical interpolation, and the machine's control system must support it.
  • Solid carbide tool — the shank, neck, and cutting head are made from a single piece of sintered carbide. This material is harder than tool steel and retains the precise shape of the tooth well.
  • Flutes for chip removal — visible on the cutting head are longitudinal flutes. They create cutting edges and also provide a path for chips to exit the cut.
  • 16 mm shank — the cylindrical shank has a diameter of 16 mm and is clamped into a collet or holder of the same diameter. The narrower neck between the shank and head allows the cutting part to enter a hole.
  • Choice of thread direction — right or left thread is determined by the direction of the helix in the programme. The same cutter can thus produce both directions of thread M24 x 3 mm.
  • Drilled hole for M24 — the internal thread is milled into a pre-drilled hole. Choose the drill diameter according to tables for thread M24 and clean the hole from chips and burrs before milling.
  • Appropriate feeds — the cutting head can be damaged if overloaded. Choose appropriate feeds and speeds, and clamp the cutter firmly and accurately. Store it in a case outside the machine to prevent damage to the tooth edge.
  • Package contents — 1x thread milling cutter M24 x 3 mm with one tooth and a 16 mm shank.

The cutter for thread M24 x 3 mm is used for manufacturing metric threads on CNC milling machines and machining centres. Sintered carbide provides the hardness needed for precise machining. Because the cutter is single-tooth, the thread is formed gradually, and its length and direction can be set in the programme. The tool is inserted into the holder with a cylindrical shank of 16 mm diameter. It is applicable in workshops and production where M24 threads need to be milled.
