Overview
Thread Mill M1.4 x 0.3 mm With One Tooth Shank 4 mm Carbide Sintered Silver CNC Milling Machine Metric Thread Milling M1.4

The thread mill with one tooth is designed for producing metric thread M1.4 x 0.3 mm on CNC milling machines and machining centres. The tool is entirely made of carbide, which is used for precision cutting tools. Unlike a tap, the mill does not cut the thread all at once but creates it gradually by moving along the helix. At the end of the tool is a cutting head with a single row of thread profile. It is clamped by a cylindrical shank with a diameter of 4 mm and has a silver surface.

  • Thread M1.4 with a pitch of 0.3 mm — the mill corresponds to a metric thread with a nominal diameter of 1.4 mm and a pitch of 0.3 mm. These small threads are used, for example, in small screws in devices, electronics, watchmaking or model making.
  • Profile with one tooth — the cutting head carries a single tooth with a thread profile. The thread is formed gradually with each revolution along the helix, and its length is controlled by the programme, not by the length of the tool.
  • Tool path — the machine guides the mill around the axis of the hole and simultaneously moves it vertically by one pitch per revolution. This movement is called helical interpolation, and the machine's control system must support it.
  • Carbide body — the shank, neck, and cutting head are made from a single piece of sintered carbide. This material is harder than tool steel and allows for precise machining of small profiles.
  • Cutting edges on the head — the image shows longitudinal grooves on the cutting head. They form the cutting edges and simultaneously provide space for chip removal.
  • Shank diameter — the cylindrical shank has a diameter of 4 mm, so it is clamped into a collet or holder of this size. Between the shank and the head is a narrower neck that allows it to enter the hole.
  • Right-hand and left-hand thread — the direction of the thread depends on which direction the programme guides the tool along the helix. The same mill can produce both right-hand and left-hand thread M1.4 x 0.3 mm.
  • Hole for thread — for internal threads, it is necessary to first drill a hole. Its diameter should be determined according to tables for thread M1.4, and chips should be removed before milling.
  • Careful use — the cutting part is very small for this size, and under excessive load, it may break. Set appropriate feeds and speeds and ensure precise clamping of the tool. Store the mill in a case outside the machine to prevent damage to the tooth.
  • Package contents — 1x thread mill M1.4 x 0.3 mm with one tooth and a 4 mm shank.

The mill for thread M1.4 x 0.3 mm is designed for producing small metric threads on CNC machines. Sintered carbide ensures the hardness required for precise milling. Thanks to the profile with one tooth, the thread is formed gradually, and its length and direction can be set in the programme. The tool is clamped by a cylindrical shank with a diameter of 4 mm. It is suitable for workshops and mass production where M1.4 threads are milled.
