Storm Glass Globe 21.5 x 14 cm Glass Barometer with Crystals on Wooden Base Table and Shelf Decoration

The Storm Glass Globe is an original glass barometer that combines decoration with a simple indicator of weather changes. The enclosed glass globe filled with liquid stands in an arched holder on a base made of solid wood and resembles a classic desk globe. The entire decoration measures 21.5 x 14 cm, making it comfortably fit on a desk, shelf, dresser, or windowsill. Inside the globe, white crystals form according to changes in temperature and air pressure, altering their shape and quantity. Every glance at the storm glass is therefore slightly different, and the decoration never becomes boring.
The principle of the storm glass is based on the crystallisation of substances dissolved in the liquid. When the liquid is clear and the crystals lie only at the bottom, it usually indicates clear weather. Cloudy liquid suggests overcast conditions, and flakes of crystals floating in the liquid may signal a storm or a significant change in weather. The glass globe is topped with a decorative glass finial and closed at the bottom with a glass point that fits into a hole in the wooden holder. The globe simply fits into the holder and is held at an angle similar to a globe in a classroom.
- Type – storm glass, glass barometer with crystals
- Shape – globe-shaped sphere with a decorative glass finial
- Dimensions – 21.5 x 14 cm (height x width)
- Material – glass and solid wood
- Base – wooden arched holder with a round base
- Function – crystals in the liquid react to changes in temperature and air pressure
- Usage – decoration for table, shelf, or office
- Package Contents – 1x storm glass globe and 1x wooden base
Place the storm glass in a stable location away from direct sunlight and heat sources so that the crystals can react to natural changes in the environment. After unpacking, it may take a while for the liquid to settle and the crystals to start forming again. If you want to see the transformation more quickly, you can place the glass in the refrigerator or another location with a different temperature for half an hour to an hour as recommended by the manufacturer. Do not open the glass globe and handle it carefully when moving. Both the glass and the wooden base can be wiped occasionally with a dry or slightly damp cloth.
The globe-shaped glass barometer is a tasteful addition for anyone who loves nature, science, or unusual decorations. The combination of clear glass and light wood harmonises with modern, Scandinavian, and classic interiors. It makes a great birthday or Christmas gift for family, friends, and colleagues. With a height of 21.5 cm, it stands out on the table while taking up minimal space. The storm glass with a wooden base will adorn both home and office, offering a new perspective on the changing crystals every day.
