Overview
Single Tooth Thread Mill M4 x 0.7 mm Shank 4 mm Solid Carbide Sintered Carbide Silver CNC Milling of Metric Threads M4

The single tooth mill is designed for milling the metric thread M4 x 0.7 mm on CNC milling machines and machining centres. The entire tool is made from sintered carbide, a hard material commonly used to manufacture precision cutting tools. The thread is not created by a tap, but through gradual milling along a helix, controlled by the machine's program. At the end of the mill is a cutting head with a single row of thread profile, followed by a narrower neck and a cylindrical shank with a diameter of 4 mm. The surface of the tool is silver.

  • Thread M4 with coarse pitch — the mill is designed for a metric thread with a nominal diameter of 4 mm and a pitch of 0.7 mm, which is the standard coarse pitch for M4. M4 threads are used, for example, in screws for devices, machine parts, electronics, or fixtures.
  • Single Row Profile — the cutting head carries a single tooth with the thread profile. The thread is thus formed gradually, and its length is determined by the tool's path in the program.
  • Milling by Interpolation — the mill revolves around the thread axis and moves vertically by 0.7 mm with each revolution. This movement is called helical interpolation, and the machine's control system must support it.
  • Solid Carbide — the shank, neck, and cutting head are made from a single piece of sintered carbide. The material is harder than tool steel and maintains the precise shape of the tooth well.
  • Longitudinal Grooves — the image shows longitudinal grooves on the cutting head. They create cutting edges and also provide space for chip removal.
  • Neck Length — the shank has a diameter of 4 mm and is clamped into a collet or holder of the same diameter. Since the shank is wider than the hole for the M4 thread, only the cutting head with the narrower neck enters the hole. Therefore, the depth of the internal thread is limited by the length of the neck.
  • Optional Direction — right or left thread is chosen based on the helical direction in the program. One mill can thus serve for both directions of thread M4 x 0.7 mm.
  • Drilled Hole — the internal thread is milled into a pre-drilled hole. Choose the drill diameter according to the tables for thread M4 and clean the hole of chips and burrs before milling.
  • Cautious Feed Rates — the cutting head is small and may break under overload. Set appropriate feed rates and speeds, and clamp the tool firmly and accurately. Outside the machine, store the mill in a case to prevent damage to the tooth edge.
  • Package Contents — 1x single tooth mill for thread M4 x 0.7 mm with a shank of 4 mm.

The mill for thread M4 x 0.7 mm serves for producing metric threads on CNC milling machines and machining centres. Sintered carbide gives it the hardness required for precise machining. The thread is formed gradually along the helix, with its length and direction controlled by the machine's program. The tool is inserted into the holder with a cylindrical shank of 4 mm. It is applicable in workshops and production environments where M4 threads need to be milled.
