Overview
Single Tooth Thread Mill M1.2 x 0.25 mm Shank 4 mm Sintered Carbide Full Carbide Silver For CNC Milling Machines Thread Milling M1.2

This thread mill with a single tooth is designed for metric thread M1.2 x 0.25 mm and is used on CNC milling machines and machining centres. It is made entirely from sintered carbide, a hard tool material suitable for precision machining. The thread is not produced with a tap, but through milling, where the machine guides the tool in a helical path according to the program. The cutting head at the end of the tool carries one row of thread profile. The mill is clamped with a cylindrical shank of 4 mm diameter and has a silver surface.

  • Thread Size M1.2 — the tool is designed for a metric thread with a nominal diameter of 1.2 mm and a pitch of 0.25 mm. Such small threads are used, for example, in small screws in precision mechanics, electronics, or modelling.
  • One Row of Profile — the mill has one tooth with a thread profile at the end. The thread is not formed all at once along the entire length, but gradually, and its length is determined by the tool's path in the program.
  • Helical Interpolation — during milling, the tool rotates and simultaneously moves along a helix with a pitch of 0.25 mm. The machine's control system must be capable of this movement, and the program must correspond to the thread dimensions.
  • Sintered Carbide Material — both the shank and the cutting part are made from a single piece of carbide. This material is harder than tool steel and maintains a sharp tooth edge well.
  • Flutes on the Cutting Head — the image shows longitudinal flutes at the end of the tool that form the cutting edges and remove chips from the cutting area.
  • 4 mm Shank Clamping — the cylindrical shank is clamped in a collet or holder for a diameter of 4 mm. The shank is followed by a narrower neck, allowing the cutting part to enter the hole.
  • Thread Direction According to Program — whether a right or left thread is created is determined by the direction of the helix set in the program. One mill can thus serve for both directions.
  • Preparation of the Hole — the internal thread is milled into a pre-drilled hole. Choose its diameter according to the tables for thread M1.2 and clear the hole of chips and burrs before milling.
  • Thin Cutting Part — the tooth for thread M1.2 is very small and may break under overload. Choose appropriate feeds and work on a machine with a precise and stable spindle. Store the tool in a case to avoid damaging the tooth edge.
  • Package Contents — 1x single tooth thread mill M1.2 x 0.25 mm with a shank of 4 mm.

The single tooth mill for thread M1.2 x 0.25 mm is used for producing small metric threads on CNC milling machines. The carbide construction provides the tool with the hardness necessary for precision machining. The thread is formed gradually along the helix, and its length and direction are controlled by the machine's program. The mill is inserted into the holder with a cylindrical shank of 4 mm. It finds application in workshops and production where M1.2 threads need to be milled.
