Overview
Single-Tooth Thread Mill M1.2 x 0.25 mm Shank 4 mm Sintered Carbide Solid Carbide Silver For CNC Milling Machines Thread Milling M1.2

This thread mill with a single tooth is designed for metric thread M1.2 x 0.25 mm and is used on CNC milling machines and machining centres. It is made entirely from sintered carbide, a hard tool material suitable for precise machining. The thread is not produced with a tap, but through milling, where the machine guides the tool along a helix according to the programme. The cutting head at the end of the tool carries one row of thread profile. The mill is clamped with a cylindrical shank of 4 mm in diameter and has a silver surface.

  • Thread Size M1.2 — the tool is designed for a metric thread with a nominal diameter of 1.2 mm and a pitch of 0.25 mm. Such small threads are used, for example, in tiny screws in precision mechanics, electronics, or model making.
  • One Row of Profile — the mill has one tooth with a thread profile at the end. The thread does not form all at once along the entire length, but gradually, and its length is determined by the tool path in the programme.
  • Helical Interpolation — during milling, the tool rotates and simultaneously travels along a helix with a pitch of 0.25 mm. The machine's control system must be capable of this movement, and the programme must correspond to the thread size.
  • Sintered Carbide Material — both the shank and the cutting part are made from a single piece of carbide. This material is harder than tool steel and maintains a sharp cutting edge well.
  • Grooves on the Cutting Head — the image shows longitudinal grooves at the end of the tool, which form the cutting edges and help remove chips from the cutting area.
  • 4 mm Shank Clamping — the cylindrical shank is clamped into a collet or holder for a diameter of 4 mm. The shank leads to a narrower neck, allowing the cutting part to enter a hole.
  • Thread Direction According to Programme — whether a right or left thread is produced is determined by the direction of the helix set in the programme. One mill can thus serve for both directions.
  • Preparation of the Hole — the internal thread is milled into a pre-drilled hole. Choose its diameter according to the tables for thread M1.2 and remove chips and burrs from the hole before milling.
  • Thin Cutting Part — the tooth for thread M1.2 is very small and can break under overload. Choose appropriate feeds and work on a machine with a precise and stable spindle. Store the tool in a case to prevent damage to the cutting edge.
  • Package Contents — 1x single-tooth thread mill M1.2 x 0.25 mm with a shank of 4 mm.

The single-tooth mill for thread M1.2 x 0.25 mm is used for producing small metric threads on CNC milling machines. The carbide construction provides the tool with the hardness needed for precise machining. The thread forms gradually along the helix, and its length and direction are controlled by the machine programme. The mill is inserted into the holder with a cylindrical shank of 4 mm. It finds application in workshops and production environments where M1.2 threads need to be milled.
