Overview
Round Bread Lame 5 cm with Mandala Pattern and 10 Replacement Blades Wooden Handle with Case Dark Brown Dough Scoring

The round bread lame is used for scoring the surface of the dough just before placing it in the oven. The handle is shaped like a wooden disc with a diameter of 5 cm, which fits comfortably between the fingers and allows for precise blade control. The top of the disc features a finely engraved mandala pattern, making the lame a decorative kitchen tool. The package also includes 10 replacement blades and a red felt case for storage. The lame is suitable for both straight cuts and decorative patterns on sourdough loaves.

  • Type – bread and dough scoring lame with a round handle
  • Handle Diameter – 5 cm
  • Case Dimensions – 7.3 x 8 cm
  • Handle – wooden disc with engraved mandala pattern
  • Handle Colour – dark brown
  • Blade Attachment – the blade is inserted between two parts of the disc and secured by turning the top part
  • Case – red felt case with a snap
  • Usage – scoring sourdough bread, loaves, baguettes, and other yeast doughs
  • Package Contents – 1 lame with an installed blade, 10 replacement blades, and 1 felt case

Changing the blade is simple. You loosen the top part of the disc by turning it counterclockwise, insert the blade into the prepared position, and tighten the top part again by turning it clockwise. When handling the blade, it is advisable to proceed with caution as the edge is very sharp. After use, you can turn the blade so that the edge remains covered, and store the lame in the felt case. The case protects both the handle and the blade and prevents the edge from coming into contact with other items in the drawer. Wipe the wooden handle with a dry cloth after use and do not wash it in a dishwasher.

Scoring the dough before baking determines where the bread will expand in the oven. A deep cut creates a prominent ear on the loaf, while shallow cuts allow for drawing leaves, ears, or flowers. The round handle is held similarly to a stamp or pencil, making it easy to guide the blade even along the curved surface of the loaf. For a clean cut, it is advisable to lightly dust the surface of the dough with flour and guide the blade smoothly in one motion at a slight angle. The lame will be appreciated by both novice and experienced home bakers who want to control the scores on their bread and create their own patterns on the crust.

The round bread lame with a mandala pattern combines a practical tool with decorative design. The wooden handle fits well in the hand, and the supply of replacement blades allows for quick replacement of a dull blade at any time. The felt case facilitates safe storage in the kitchen. The lame takes up minimal space and also makes a great small gift for home baking enthusiasts. It is a suitable complement to a proofing basket, Danish whisk, and bread knife.
