Overview
M8 x 1.25 mm Thread Milling Cutter Single Tooth Shank 6 mm Solid Carbide Tungsten Carbide Silver CNC Milling Machines and Machining Centres

The M8 x 1.25 mm thread milling cutter has a single tooth with a thread profile and is used on CNC milling machines and machining centres. It is made entirely of tungsten carbide, which is commonly used for precision cutting tools. The thread is not created by a tap, but by progressively milling along a helix, which is controlled by the machine's programme. At the end of the tool is a cutting head with a single row of thread profile, followed by a narrower neck and a cylindrical shank with a diameter of 6 mm. The surface of the cutter is silver.

  • Coarse M8 thread — the cutter is designed for a metric thread with a nominal diameter of 8 mm and a pitch of 1.25 mm, which is the standard coarse pitch for M8. M8 threads are used, for example, in screw connections in machine parts, fixtures, frames, or constructions.
  • Tooth with thread shape — the cutting head carries a single row of thread profile. The thread is formed gradually, and its length is determined by the tool's path in the programme.
  • Helical path — the cutter rotates around the axis of the thread and moves vertically by 1.25 mm for each revolution. This movement is called helical interpolation, and the machine's control system must support it.
  • One-piece tool — the shank, neck, and cutting head are made from a single piece of tungsten carbide. The material is harder than tool steel and maintains the precise shape of the tooth well.
  • Grooves in the cutting part — the cutting head features longitudinal grooves visible in the image. They create cutting edges and provide space for chips to exit.
  • 6 mm Collet or Holder — the cylindrical shank with a diameter of 6 mm is clamped into a collet or holder of the same diameter. The narrower neck between the shank and head allows the cutting part to enter a hole.
  • Right and left thread with one tool — the direction of the thread is determined by the direction of the helix in the programme. The same cutter can thus produce both right and left M8 x 1.25 mm threads.
  • Hole for thread — the internal thread is milled into a pre-drilled hole. Choose the drill diameter according to the tables for M8 thread and clean the hole of chips and burrs before milling.
  • Reasonable cutting conditions — the cutting head can break under overload. Choose appropriate feeds and speeds, and clamp the cutter firmly and accurately. Store it in a case when not in the machine to prevent damage to the tooth edge.
  • Package contents — 1x single tooth milling cutter for producing M8 x 1.25 mm thread with 6 mm shank.

The M8 x 1.25 mm thread cutter is used for producing metric threads on CNC milling machines and machining centres. Tungsten carbide gives it the hardness needed for precise machining. The thread is formed gradually along the helix, and its length and direction can be set in the programme. The tool is inserted into the holder with a cylindrical 6 mm shank. It is applicable in workshops and production where M8 threads need to be milled.
