Overview
M6 x 1 mm Thread Milling Cutter One Tooth Shank 6 mm Solid Carbide Sintered Carbide Silver CNC Milling Machines and Machining Centres

The M6 x 1 mm cutter with one tooth is used for milling metric thread M6 x 1 mm on CNC milling machines and machining centres. It is made entirely of sintered carbide, a hard material commonly used for precision cutting tools. The thread is not formed by a tap, but rather the machine guides the cutter along the screw thread according to the programme. The cutting head with a single row of thread profile is at the end of the tool, followed by a narrower neck and a cylindrical shank with a diameter of 6 mm. The cutter has a silver surface.

  • Size M6 and pitch 1 mm — the cutter is designed for a metric thread with a nominal diameter of 6 mm and a pitch of 1 mm, which is the basic coarse pitch for M6. The M6 thread is one of the most commonly used threads in engineering, for example in machine parts, jigs, covers, or structures.
  • Profile series at the tip — the cutting head carries a single tooth with the shape of the thread. The thread is therefore formed gradually, and its length is determined by the programme.
  • Programme and screw thread — the cutter revolves around the axis of the thread and moves vertically by 1 mm with each revolution. This movement is called helical interpolation, and the machine's control system must support it.
  • Solid carbide — the shank, neck, and cutting head are made from a single piece of sintered carbide. The material is harder than tool steel and maintains the precise shape of the tooth well.
  • Head grooving — the image shows longitudinal grooves on the cutting head. They create cutting edges and also provide space for chip removal.
  • Thicker shank — unlike smaller sizes, this cutter has a 6 mm shank. It is clamped into a collet or holder for a diameter of 6 mm.
  • Thread depth — the 6 mm shank is wider than the pre-drilled hole for the M6 thread, so only the cutting head with the narrower neck enters the hole. Therefore, the depth of the internal thread is limited by the length of the neck.
  • Choice of right or left thread — the direction of the thread is determined by the direction of the screw thread in the programme. With the same cutter, you can produce both right and left M6 x 1 mm threads.
  • Drilling for M6 — the internal thread is milled into a pre-drilled hole. Choose the drill diameter according to the tables for M6 thread and clean the hole of chips and burrs before milling.
  • Care and storage — the cutting head is prone to breaking under overload. Choose appropriate feeds and speeds, and clamp the tool firmly and accurately. When not in use, store the cutter in a case to prevent damage to the tooth edge.
  • Package contents — 1x M6 x 1 mm thread milling cutter with one tooth and a 6 mm shank.

The cutter for M6 x 1 mm is designed for producing metric threads on CNC milling machines and machining centres. Sintered carbide gives it the hardness needed for precise machining. Thanks to the cutting head with one tooth, the thread is formed gradually, and you can set its length and direction in the programme. The cutter is inserted into the holder with a cylindrical shank of 6 mm diameter. It is applicable in workshops and production environments where M6 threads need to be milled.
