M1 x 0.25 mm Thread Mill Single Flute 4 mm Shank Solid Carbide CNC Mill

The single flute thread mill for thread M1 x 0.25 mm is designed for milling very small metric threads on CNC milling machines and machining centres. The entire mill is made of solid carbide, a hard material commonly used for precision cutting tools. The thread is not created by cutting with a tap, but by gradually milling along the helical path, which is controlled by the CNC machine program. The mill has one tooth with a thread profile and is secured with a cylindrical shank of 4 mm diameter. The surface of the tool is silver.

  • M1 x 0.25 mm Thread — the mill is intended for the metric thread M1 with a pitch of 0.25 mm. This is a very fine thread used, for example, in miniature screw connections in precision mechanics, modelling, or electronics.
  • Single Flute Profile — at the end of the mill is one tooth with the thread profile. The thread is thus created gradually along its entire length, and its depth is determined by the program, not the length of the tool.
  • Milling along the Helix — the machine guides the mill along the helix, known as helical interpolation. Therefore, the CNC machine must support this movement, and the program must correspond to the pitch of 0.25 mm.
  • Solid Carbide Construction — the body and tooth of the mill are made from a single piece of solid carbide. This material is significantly harder than tool steel and retains its shape even during precise machining.
  • D4 Shank — the cylindrical shank has a diameter of 4 mm and is secured in a collet or holder designed for this diameter. The thicker shank transitions into a thin neck with the cutting part.
  • Right and Left Hand Thread — the direction of the thread is determined by the direction of the helix in the program. The same mill can therefore be used to mill both right and left hand M1 x 0.25 mm threads, depending on the settings.
  • Pre-drilled Hole — before milling the internal thread, it is necessary to drill a hole of the appropriate diameter. Choose the hole size according to the tables for the M1 thread. The hole should be clean and free of burrs to allow the mill to enter safely.
  • Careful Handling — the cutting part for the M1 thread is very thin and can break under overload. Use appropriate feeds and a machine with a precise and stable spindle. Store the mill in its packaging to protect the fine tooth from damage.
