The Drinking Bird is a classic physics toy that can captivate both children and adults. The figure with a top hat and long beak regularly leans forward, dips its beak into a glass of water, and then straightens up again. The entire toy measures approximately 5 x 5 x 18 cm, making it comfortably fit on a desk, shelf, or windowsill. It is made from a combination of glass and plastic – the transparent glass body with coloured liquid is mounted on a plastic stand with feet. This gives it a playful decorative quality while also serving as a small experiment that beautifully illustrates how physics works.
The bird moves on its own once activated, and its rocking motion continuously repeats as long as there is water in front of it. Simply place a glass of water in front of it at a height that allows the beak to reach it when tilted. You can then watch as the bird sways and "drinks". At first glance, it appears to be magic, which is why the drinking bird is a popular addition to offices, children's rooms, and school classrooms. It helps children understand the basics of physics in a fun way and serves as a calming spectacle for adults while they work or relax.

Place the bird on a flat and stable surface where it will not be subjected to impacts or falls, as the body of the toy is glass. Handle the glass part with care and do not move the toy while it is in motion. Dust can be gently wiped off the surface with a dry soft cloth. Younger children should play with the bird under adult supervision.
The Drinking Bird is an uncomplicated and entertaining decoration that enlivens any desk. With a height of around 18 cm, it is prominent enough to attract attention while not taking up much space. It makes a great small gift for a colleague, student, or lover of interesting items and scientific toys. The movement of the bird has a calming effect and often becomes a topic of conversation. The packaging contains 1 piece of the toy ready for immediate use, just add a glass of water.
