Overview
CNC Thread Mill M1.6 x 0.35 mm Single Flute Shank 4 mm Solid Carbide Sintered Carbide Silver Milling Cutters and Machining Centres Threads M1.6

The CNC thread mill M1.6 x 0.35 mm features a single flute with a thread profile and is designed for milling small metric threads on CNC milling machines and machining centres. It is made entirely from sintered carbide, a hard material commonly used for precision cutting tools. The thread is not created by screwing in a tap, but rather by the machine guiding the tool along the helix according to the programme. The cutting part is at the end of the tool, followed by a narrower neck and a thicker cylindrical shank with a diameter of 4 mm. The tool has a silver surface.

  • Metric Thread M1.6 — the cutter is intended for a thread with a nominal diameter of 1.6 mm and a pitch of 0.35 mm. The M1.6 thread is used, for example, in small screws in electronics, optics, instruments, or models.
  • Single Flute Cutting Head — at the end of the tool, there is one row of thread profile. The cutter thus forms the thread gradually, turn by turn, and the length of the thread is determined by the programme settings.
  • CNC Programme Interpolation — the tool rotates during operation, moves around the thread axis, and simultaneously advances by 0.35 mm per revolution. Therefore, the machine must manage helical interpolation.
  • Entirely Made of Carbide — the shank, neck, and cutting head form a single piece of sintered carbide. This material is harder than tool steel and is suitable for precise milling of fine shapes.
  • Head with Grooves — the cutting head features longitudinal grooves that form the cutting edges and create space for chip removal.
  • Collet Clamping — the cylindrical shank is clamped into a 4 mm collet or another holder for this diameter. The narrower neck between the shank and head allows the cutting part to enter the hole.
  • Choice of Thread Direction — right or left-hand thread is selected according to the direction of the helix in the programme. Therefore, one tool is sufficient for both directions.
  • Drilling Before Milling — for internal threads, it is necessary to first drill a hole. Choose the drill diameter according to the tables for thread M1.6 and clean the hole of chips before milling.
  • Caution with Overloading — the cutting head for thread M1.6 is small and may break with excessive feed or inaccurate clamping. Choose cutting conditions wisely. When not in use, store the cutter in a case to protect the cutting edge.
  • Package Contents — 1x CNC thread mill M1.6 x 0.35 mm with a single flute and a 4 mm shank.

The single flute cutter for thread M1.6 x 0.35 mm is a tool for producing small metric threads on CNC milling machines and machining centres. The solid carbide design provides the tool with the hardness needed for precise work. The thread is formed gradually along the helix, with both its length and direction controlled by the programme. The cutter is clamped into the machine with a cylindrical shank of 4 mm diameter. It is suitable for use in workshops and production environments where M1.6 threads need to be milled.
