Overview
Carbide Tipped Thread Mill M2 x 0.4 mm One Tooth Shank 4 mm Solid Carbide Silver CNC Milling Machines and Machining Centres Milling M2 Threads

The carbide tipped mill with one tooth is used for milling the metric thread M2 x 0.4 mm on CNC milling machines and machining centres. It is entirely made from solid carbide, a hard material commonly used for manufacturing precision machining tools. The thread is not created by a tap, but by the movement of the tool along the helical path, which is controlled by the machine's program. At the end of the mill is a cutting head with a single row of thread profile, followed by a narrower neck and a cylindrical shank with a diameter of 4 mm. The tool has a silver surface.

  • Coarse pitch 0.4 mm — the 0.4 mm pitch is the standard, so-called coarse pitch, for the M2 thread, and this mill is specifically designed for it. M2 threads are used, for example, in small screws in electronics, devices, mechanisms, or models.
  • Tooth with thread profile — the cutting head has a single tooth shaped like a thread profile. The thread is thus formed gradually with each revolution, and its length is determined by the program.
  • Circular and vertical path — the tool revolves around the thread axis and during one revolution moves vertically by 0.4 mm. This movement is called helical interpolation, and the machine's control system must support it.
  • One piece of carbide — the shank, neck, and cutting head form a single unit made of solid carbide. The material is harder than tool steel and maintains the precise shape of the tooth well.
  • Cutting edges on the head — the image shows longitudinal grooves on the cutting head that create the cutting edges and help to remove chips.
  • Shank for collet 4 mm — the cylindrical shank is clamped into a collet or holder for a diameter of 4 mm. The narrower neck between the shank and head allows the cutting part to enter the hole.
  • Direction of the helix — depending on the direction in which the program guides the tool, a right or left thread will be created. The same mill can thus serve for both directions of the M2 x 0.4 mm thread.
  • Drilling the hole — the internal thread is milled into a pre-drilled hole. Choose its diameter according to the tables for the M2 thread and clean the hole of chips and burrs before milling.
  • Safe operation — the cutting head for the M2 thread is small and can break under overload. Set appropriate feeds and speeds and ensure precise and secure clamping. When not in use, store the tool in a case to prevent damage to the tooth edge.
  • Package contents — 1x carbide tipped thread mill M2 x 0.4 mm with one tooth and a 4 mm shank.

The carbide tipped mill for the M2 x 0.4 mm thread is a tool for producing small metric threads on CNC milling machines and machining centres. Solid carbide gives it the hardness required for precise machining. Thanks to the profile with a single tooth, the thread is formed gradually, and its length and direction are set in the program. The mill is clamped into the machine with a cylindrical shank of 4 mm diameter. It is suitable for workshops and production where M2 threads need to be milled.
