Overview
Carbide Mill for Metric Thread M1.8 x 0.35 mm Single Tooth Shank 4 mm Full Carbide Silver For CNC Machines Thread Milling M1.8

The single-tooth carbide mill is designed for milling metric thread M1.8 x 0.35 mm on CNC milling machines and machining centres. The entire tool is made of sintered carbide, which is hard metal commonly used for precise cutting tools. The thread is created by milling in a helical motion, not by cutting with a tap. The cutting head with a single row of thread profile is at the end of the tool, followed by a narrower neck and a cylindrical shank with a diameter of 4 mm. The surface of the mill is silver.

  • Size M1.8 — the mill corresponds to a metric thread with a nominal diameter of 1.8 mm and a pitch of 0.35 mm. Small threads of this size are used, for example, in small screw connections in fine mechanics, instruments, or electronics.
  • Cutting Tooth — the head carries a single tooth with a thread profile. The thread is therefore formed gradually during movement in a helical path, and its length is determined by the programme, not by the length of the cutting part.
  • Helical Motion of the Machine — the mill rotates, revolves around the axis of the thread, and simultaneously moves by a pitch of 0.35 mm for each revolution. The machine must be capable of helical interpolation, and the programme must correspond to the size of the thread.
  • Hard Sintered Carbide — both the shank and cutting head are made from a single piece of material. Sintered carbide is harder than tool steel and maintains the precise shape of the tooth.
  • Chip Grooves — in the image, longitudinal grooves can be seen on the cutting head. They create cutting edges and also provide a path for the chips to exit.
  • Cylindrical Shank 4 mm — the tool is clamped into a collet or holder for a diameter of 4 mm. The narrower neck behind the shank allows the cutting head to enter the hole.
  • Right and Left Direction — the direction of the thread is set in the programme according to the direction in which the tool revolves in a helical path. One mill can thus handle both right and left threads M1.8 x 0.35 mm.
  • Pre-drilling — the internal thread is milled into a pre-drilled hole. Choose the diameter of the hole according to the tables for thread M1.8 and remove chips and burrs from it before milling.
  • Tool Care — the cutting head for this size is small and may break under overload. Use appropriate feeds and stable and precise clamping. After use, clean the mill and store it in a case to keep the tooth edge undamaged.
  • Contents of the Package — 1x carbide mill for thread M1.8 x 0.35 mm with a single tooth and a 4 mm shank.

The mill for thread M1.8 x 0.35 mm is used for producing small metric threads on CNC milling machines and machining centres. The hard metal design gives the tool the hardness required for precise milling. The thread is formed gradually, and its length and direction are controlled by the machine's programme. The mill is inserted into the holder with a cylindrical shank of 4 mm. You will find it useful in the workshop and in production wherever you need to mill threads M1.8.
