Kendama is a traditional Japanese ball and string game that has become popular with children and adults around the world. This version is made from bamboo, whose natural striped grain gives each piece a distinctive appearance. It consists of a handle with a spike, a cross piece with two cups of different sizes, and a ball attached to the toy by a string. The aim of the game is to throw the ball into the air and catch it in the cup, in the bottom cup at the end of the handle, or to spear it on the spike.
Playing naturally improves hand-eye coordination, reflexes, balance, and the ability to focus on a single movement. Simple tricks can be mastered by beginners within minutes, while more challenging ones require patience and regular practice, making kendama a source of entertainment for months. It serves as a fun alternative to screens, a way to unwind while working from home, and a shared game for the whole family or a group of friends.

With a height of 18.5 cm and a ball diameter of 6 cm, the kendama has classic dimensions that are best for learning tricks. The handle fits comfortably in the hand of an adult or older child, and the cups are large enough to catch the ball even on the first attempts. Bamboo is a strong yet lightweight material, ensuring the toy withstands frequent play and failed catches. The glossy surface of the ball highlights its colour and the natural grain of the wood. The string keeps the ball attached to the handle, so it won't roll away when a catch goes wrong, allowing for play at home, in the garden, or in the park.
Kendama is a fantastic game for children and adults that develops fine motor skills and teaches patience. It is suitable as a standalone entertainment for free time, as a competition among friends to see who can perform the most tricks in a row, and as an unconventional tool for training reflexes. The lightweight and compact toy fits into a backpack, making it easy to take on trips, to a cottage, or on holiday. It will also be appreciated by lovers of Japanese culture and traditional wooden toys. Additionally, it makes an original gift for birthdays, Children's Day, or Christmas.
