Overview
Self-Centering Lathe Chuck with 3 Step Jaws, 100 mm Diameter and 5.5 cm Height, Silver with Adjustable Key for Lathe

The clamping plate with a diameter of 100 mm features three jaws that converge towards the centre simultaneously when the key is tightened, allowing the workpiece to settle into the axis of rotation automatically. The material is a combination of cast iron and steel, where the cast iron maintains the shape of the body and the steel is used for the stressed moving parts. The jaws have a stepped profile, so the workpiece can rest on either the narrower or wider step depending on its diameter. The body is 5.5 cm high, and with the protruding jaws, the assembly measures 7.45 cm. The holes around the circumference are used for inserting the adjustable key, which is included in the delivery.

  • Clamping Plate – the 100 mm diameter corresponds to a medium size that can be used on a workshop lathe as well as for home repairs, where variously sized pieces alternate and the chuck must handle both
  • Workpiece Centreing – three jaws converge simultaneously, allowing a round piece to take its position in the centre without manual measuring, enabling clamping to be completed in a matter of seconds
  • Jaw Shape – the stepped profile means several seating surfaces stacked on top of each other, allowing the grip to adapt to both smaller and larger diameters, so one chuck can cover a wider range of parts
  • Dimensions – the body measures 5.5 cm in height and the total height including the jaws is 7.45 cm, which is significant when planning space at the spindle and estimating the reach of the tool
  • Cast Iron with Steel – the cast iron body and steel parts create a connection that withstands the pressure generated during the clamping of the workpiece and the vibrations transmitted from the cut, ensuring that the grip lasts throughout the machining process
  • Key Holes – there are recessed holes around the circumference into which the key is inserted, allowing the grip to be tightened or loosened with one movement without the need to reach for additional tools

Contents of the package:

  • 1x chuck
  • 1x adjustable key

The quality of the turned surface starts with how firmly and concentrically the workpiece sits, as any deviation during rotation will manifest around the entire circumference of the component. The trio of jaws that move simultaneously simplifies this part of the work, allowing the operator to focus on setting the tool rather than aligning the piece. The stepped shape of the jaws also expands the range of diameters that can be gripped without needing to change jaws. The adjustable key included complements the chuck with the tool necessary for tightening the grip, making it ready for use. The silver finish with a smooth surface is easy to wipe clean of chips and oil mist, which is convenient for a tool that is handled each time a new workpiece comes into play. Before clamping, it is worth checking that no chips from the previous piece remain in the grooves, as even small debris can misalign the workpiece. The chuck can then be used for standard lathe operations where medium-sized round blanks are worked on. After finishing the work, the jaws open, and the key is stored with the machine for immediate availability during the next clamping. It is advisable to leave the jaws slightly open to prevent material remnants from being pressed into the grooves, allowing the next workpiece to seat cleanly around the entire circumference.
