The grooving cutter with dimensions 10 x 40 mm is a straight three-edged cutter with a long cutting part for deep grooves, rebates, and cutouts in wood. The cutting diameter is 10 mm and the cutting length is 40 mm, allowing the cutter to handle thick beams and boards. The cutting edges are made of tungsten carbide (TCT) and the cutter is secured with a shank diameter of 12.7 mm, which is 1/2 inch. It can be used in a router, CNC milling machine, or engraving machine. The cutter is silver with a grey transition between the shank and the cutting edges.
- Groove width of 10 mm — the cutter creates a groove 10 mm wide with a flat bottom and vertical walls. It is suitable for strong joints and embedding thicker parts.
- Long cutting part 40 mm — the edges allow for milling to a depth of up to 40 mm. Always mill such deep grooves gradually in multiple passes and increase the depth in small increments.
- Three edges around — during rotation, three edges gradually engage in the cut, each removing smaller chips. The cut is therefore smoother than with cutters with fewer edges.
- Hard TCT edge — the cutting edges are made of carbide, which is harder than tool steel. Carbide is commonly used for wood and chipboard cutters.
- Shank for collet 12.7 mm — the shank with a diameter of 1/2 inch fits into a 12.7 mm collet. A 12 mm collet is not suitable for it, so please check your machine's equipment before purchasing.
- Overall size — the cutter measures 98 mm. The strong shank provides the long tool with the necessary rigidity, and the depth of insertion into the collet should be chosen according to the machine's manual.
- Machines with sufficient lift — the cutter can be used in a router, milling table, CNC milling machine, or engraving machine with a collet for 1/2 inch. With such a long cutter, ensure that the machine has sufficient lift.
- Thick beams and solid wood — the cutter is designed for wood and multilayer chipboard. The long edges are useful for thick beams and boards when making furniture, doors, frames, and wooden structures.
- Risk of overload — the wide and long cutter removes a lot of material, so do not overload it with great depth in one pass. Choose a reasonable feed rate, securely clamp the workpiece, and wear safety glasses.
