The eight is essential for every minor task: it holds hose clips, plastic covers, sensor mounts, cable clips, and various connections on bicycles and in electrical installations. Screws of this size are often recessed among other parts, so a short tool with a ratchet in the eye is more suitable than a long arm. The wrench measures 144 mm in length and with this body, it can fit through gaps where larger tools cannot. The 72-tooth gearing engages another grip after just five degrees of rotation, meaning the nut can be moved even when the hand can barely shift it by a centimetre. The closed end wraps around the screw completely, while the open fork on the other side can be applied from the side where the eye cannot be slipped on. The eye has a width of 21 mm with a thickness of 8.5 mm, the open end measures 18.5 mm and is 6.5 mm thick. The body is dark grey, the ratchet ring is gold-coloured, and the number 8 is embossed on both sides of the arm. The arm is flat and slightly curved near the head, allowing it to run closely along covers and frames.

  • Ratchet in the eye 8 mm — the long thread can be quickly engaged without removing the wrench, saving the most time on small connections.
  • Engagement after 5° — fine division engages even among cables and hoses, where the arm cannot be pulled out to full rotation at all.
  • Short body 144 mm — the length maintains sensitive tightening and prevents over-tightening of small threads, which is easily a risk with a longer lever.
  • Fork 18.5 mm — the flat end with a thickness of 6.5 mm can reach clips and nuts accessible only from the side, around which the eye cannot be slipped on.
  • Direction switching — the lever in the ratchet ring reverses the action, allowing the same engagement to loosen and tighten the screw without turning the wrench in hand.
  • Closed eye 21 mm — twelve engagement positions facilitate starting in a narrow section, and the edges, not the corners of the screw, bear the force.
  • Embossed number 8 — the marking on both sides of the arm shortens the search among small wrenches in the bag and in the drawer with other sizes.

The ratchet side speeds up threading and tightening; for a rusted or over-tightened screw, it is better to reach for a solid wrench, as the fine teeth are not designed for impact loading. The eye must be applied to full depth; otherwise, the torque will only be transferred to part of the edges, and the softer screw will deform. For connections of this size, tightening by feel is sufficient; even a short lever exerts more force on a small thread than it seems. The thickness of the eye 8.5 mm keeps the teeth in firm engagement, and the head remains dimensionally stable. It is advisable to protect the mechanism from dust and moisture and occasionally blow it out with a drop of oil. The dark grey surface with the gold ring is easy to wipe clean, and the wrench can be hung on a panel or stored in a bag pocket with other sizes.
