The grooving and slotting cutter measuring 8 x 28 mm is a straight cutter for machining wood and multilayer chipboard. The cutting diameter is 8 mm and the length of the cutting edges is 28 mm, allowing for wider and deeper grooves. The three flutes are made of carbide (TCT) and the cutter is secured with a shank diameter of 12.7 mm, which is 1/2 inch. It can be used in a router, CNC machine, or engraving machine. The cutter is silver with a light grey transition between the shank and the cutting edges.
- Cutting Width 8 mm — the cutter creates a groove 8 mm wide with a flat bottom and vertical walls. When routing along the edge of the workpiece, you create a groove, which is an offset of the edge.
- Cutting Length 28 mm — the cutting edges allow for routing to a depth of up to 28 mm. For deeper grooves, route gradually in multiple passes to avoid overloading the tool.
- Three Alternating Cutting Edges — during rotation, three flutes engage in the cut sequentially, each removing a smaller chip. This results in a smoother cut than cutters with fewer flutes.
- TCT Cutting Edges — the cutting edges are made of carbide, which is harder than tool steel. Carbide is commonly used for cutters for wood and chipboard.
- Shank Diameter 1/2 Inch — the shank measures 12.7 mm and fits into a collet of the same diameter. A 12 mm collet is not suitable, so please check your machine's equipment before purchasing.
- Cutter Size — the total length of the tool is 83 mm. The thick shank provides good rigidity in the collet, and the depth of insertion should be chosen according to the machine's instructions.
- Mounting into Machines — the cutter can be used in a handheld router, on a routing table, in a CNC machine, or in an engraving machine, provided they have a collet for 1/2 inch.
- Grooves for Frames — the cutter is suitable for grooves in frames, doors, and back panels of cabinets, as well as for slots in wood and multilayer chipboard. It is useful in furniture making and other components.
