The deep groove cutter measuring 8 x 35 mm is a straight three-edged cutter for machining wood and multilayer chipboard. The cutting diameter is 8 mm and the cutting length is 35 mm, allowing the cutter to handle deep grooves, rebates, and cutouts even in thicker materials. The cutting edges are made of tungsten carbide (TCT) and the cutter is fitted with a 1/2 inch shank with a diameter of 12.7 mm. It can be used in a router, CNC milling machine, or engraving machine. The cutter is silver with a light grey transition between the shank and the cutting edges.

  • Width 8 mm — the cutter creates a groove 8 mm wide with a flat bottom and vertical walls. It is suitable for solid joints and the embedding of thicker parts.
  • Depth up to 35 mm — the long cutting edges allow for milling to a depth of 35 mm. Always mill such deep grooves in multiple passes and increase the depth in smaller increments.
  • Three-edged design — the three edges alternate in engagement during rotation, each removing a smaller chip. The cut is therefore smoother than with cutters with fewer edges.
  • Cutting edge material — the cutting edges are made of tungsten carbide denoted by the abbreviation TCT. It is harder than tool steel and is commonly used for wood and board cutters.
  • 12.7 mm Shank for Collet — the shank with a diameter of 1/2 inch fits into a 12.7 mm collet. A 12 mm collet is not suitable for it, so please check your machine's equipment before purchasing.
  • Overall cutter dimensions — the total length of the tool is 90 mm. The thick shank provides the long cutter with the necessary rigidity, and the depth of insertion into the collet should be chosen according to the machine's manual.
  • Handheld and Table Routers and CNC — the cutter can be used in a handheld router, in a milling table, in a CNC milling machine, or in an engraving machine, provided they have a collet for 1/2 inch and sufficient travel.
  • Massive Components — the longer cutting edges are suitable for thick boards and beams made of wood as well as multilayer chipboard. They are useful in furniture production, frames, doors, and wooden structures.
  • Safety and Procedure — do not overload the long cutter with a large depth in one pass and choose an appropriate feed rate. Secure the workpiece firmly and wear safety glasses while working.

The 8 x 35 mm deep groove cutter is suitable for wider and deeper grooves and cutouts in wood and multilayer chipboard. The cutting length of 35 mm allows for machining even thick boards and beams, provided the depth is added gradually.
