Overview
7 x 20 mm Slotting and Notching Cutter Three-Flute TCT Shank 1/2 Inch 12.7 mm Tungsten Carbide Straight CNC Cutter Silver Wood and Chipboard

The cutter with dimensions 7 x 20 mm is a straight slotting cutter for milling grooves, rebates, and notches in wood. The cutting diameter is 7 mm and the length of the cutting edges is 20 mm. The three cutting edges are made of tungsten carbide (TCT), which is commonly used for machining wood and boards. The cutter is clamped with a shank 1/2 inch in diameter 12.7 mm into a router, CNC machine, or engraving machine. It is silver and has a black ring at the top of the shank.

  • Cutting diameter 7 mm — the cutter creates a groove 7 mm wide with a flat bottom and vertical walls. It is suitable where a groove slightly wider than the standard 6 mm is needed.
  • Cutting length 20 mm — the cutting edges allow milling to a depth of up to 20 mm. A shorter working part means less tool overhang and more stable operation in the collet.
  • Three-flute cutter — the three cutting edges alternate during rotation, each removing a smaller chip. The cut is therefore smoother than with cutters that have one or two cutting edges.
  • Tungsten carbide cutting edges — the cutting edges are made of tungsten carbide, abbreviated as TCT. It is harder than tool steel and is commonly used for wood and chipboard cutters.
  • Shank diameter — the shank measures 12.7 mm and fits into a collet of the same diameter. A 12 mm collet is not suitable for it, so please check your machine's equipment before purchasing.
  • Short tool — the overall length of the cutter is 68 mm. The compact size makes it easier to set up, and the strong shank gives the tool good rigidity even with a wider cutting diameter.
  • Clamping options — the cutter can be used in a handheld router, on a milling table, in a CNC machine, or in an engraving machine, provided they have a collet for 1/2 inch.
  • Wider grooves — the cutter is designed for wood and multilayer chipboard. It is suitable for recessing thicker boards, strips, and infills when making furniture, cabinets, and shelves.
  • Setup and safety — securely tighten the cutter in the collet and choose the depth of the shank insertion according to the machine's instructions. Securely clamp the workpiece, choose an appropriate feed rate, and wear protective eyewear.
  • Package contents — 1x straight cutter 7 x 20 mm with a 1/2 inch shank.

The 7 x 20 mm cutter is suitable for straight grooves and notches in both wood and multilayer chipboard. The cutting width of 7 mm is ideal for joints where a standard 6 mm groove is too narrow. The three cutting edges made of tungsten carbide remove material smoothly and create a groove with a flat bottom. The 1/2 inch shank fits into a router, CNC machine, or engraving machine. You will find the cutter useful in furniture making and other wooden products in the workshop and at home.
