The seven millimetre is a size that is often overlooked in standard sets, yet it fits hose clips on carburettor and choke screws on motorcycle covers, as well as on terminals and clips in electrical installations. Working with it usually takes place in tight spaces between hoses and wiring, where a conventional spanner requires repositioning after each turn. Here, this task is taken over by the ratchet with 72 teeth at the closed end, as it engages after just five degrees of rotation. The body measures 142 mm in length, allowing it to fit where longer tools cannot, while also preventing over-tightening of delicate threads. The fixed fork at the other end is applied from the side to joints that cannot be accessed with the ring. The ring has a width of 20 mm and a thickness of 8 mm, the open end measures 18 mm and is 6 mm thick. The surface is dark grey, the ratchet ring is gold-coloured, and the number 7 is stamped on both sides of the arm. The arm is flat and slightly curved near the head, allowing it to run closely along the cover and hose.

  • 7 mm Ratchet in the Ring — a clip or nut can be tightened continuously without having to remove and reapply the spanner after each movement.
  • Engagement after 5° — fine increments allow the ring to move even between hoses, where the arm travels barely a centimetre and cannot proceed otherwise.
  • Body 142 mm — the short lever keeps the tightening under control and protects delicate threads from stripping, which can happen quickly at this size.
  • Fork 18 mm — the solid end with a thickness of 6 mm reaches screws of clips and brackets accessible only from the side, around which the ring cannot be slipped.
  • Direction Switching — the lever in the ring changes the direction of the ratchet, allowing the same application to loosen and tighten a joint without turning the spanner in hand.
  • Ring Thickness 8 mm — the head wraps around the screw fully and distributes the force across the edges, not the corners, preventing the small joint from rounding off.
  • Stamped Number 7 — the marking on both sides of the arm distinguishes the spanner from neighbouring small sizes lying next to each other.

This tool is suitable for motorcycle and garden machinery servicing in workshops, as well as for home assembly and small repairs, where the seven millimetre appears on clips and covers. It is also useful for model-making and maintenance of appliances with small fasteners. The ratchet side speeds up threading and tightening, while for a rusty or previously over-tightened screw, it is better to use a solid spanner, as the fine teeth are not designed for impact loading. The ring must be applied fully, otherwise the torque is only transferred to part of the edges, and the softer screw will deform. When working with hose clips, it is also advisable to tighten gradually and check that the strap is seated evenly. The 8 mm ring thickness keeps the teeth firmly engaged, and the head remains shape-stable. It is good to protect the mechanism from dust and moisture and occasionally blow it out with a drop of oil. The dark grey surface with a gold ring is easy to wipe clean of grease, and the spanner can be hung on a panel or stored in a bag with other sizes.
