Overview
17 mm Ratchet Wrench with Socket and Spanner for Wheels and Chassis with 72 Teeth and Length of 215 mm in Dark Grey Finish with Gold Ratchet

The seventeen is one of the sizes most frequently dealt with in the garage, as it holds the wheels of most passenger cars, part of the suspension, and several connections on the engine. These bolts are often recessed among other components, making a ratchet directly in the socket most beneficial. The tool combines two ends: a closed socket with a ratchet mechanism and a classic open spanner for connections accessible only from the side. The 72-tooth gearing allows the socket to advance to the next engagement after just five degrees of rotation, enabling smooth tightening even under the wheel arch, where the arm cannot be fully rotated. The overall length of 215 mm corresponds to the torque commonly used for this size, and the wrench remains manageable with one hand. The socket is 35.5 mm wide and 11 mm thick, while the open end measures 35 mm with a thickness of 8.5 mm. The finish is dark grey with a gold-coloured ratchet ring and the number 17 embossed on both sides of the arm. The arm is flat with a slight curve at the head, allowing it to run closely along the sheet metal.

  • 17 mm Ratchet Socket — the bolt is tightened without repeated engagement, which is useful for long threads and deeply seated nuts in the wheel arch.
  • Engagement after 5° — fine division works even in corners where the arm only passes a few centimetres between components.
  • Length 215 mm — the arm provides leverage for tightening wheels and loosening suspension bolts without the need for an extension tube.
  • Spanner 35 mm — the open end with a thickness of 8.5 mm reaches nuts near brake lines and fuel pipes, around which the socket cannot be slipped.
  • Direction Switch — the lever in the ratchet ring switches between tightening and loosening without having to remove the wrench from the bolt or turn it in hand.
  • Embossed Number 17 — the marking on both sides of the arm distinguishes the wrench from similar sizes even when soiled with grease.
  • Flat Arm — the shape without unnecessary protrusions fits through gaps between the frame and the engine and is comfortably held in the palm during use.

Contents of the package:

  • 1x 17 mm Ratchet Wrench

The tool is suitable for use in car service for changing wheels during suspension repairs and for maintaining garden and construction machinery, where this size is commonly repeated. It is also applicable to motorcycles and quad bikes, where the seventeen is used for mounting footpegs and frame components. The ratchet side is used for quick engagement and tightening, while a solid wrench or socket with a ratchet is more suitable for the initial break of a rusted bolt. The mechanism wears most from the shock when releasing a stuck thread. The socket must be fully engaged to evenly distribute the torque and keep the edges of the nut sharp. This is doubly true for galvanised bolts, as their surface gets marked more quickly. The thickness of the socket 11 mm maintains the gearing in a firm engagement even under higher loads, and the head does not expand under pressure. It is advisable to protect the mechanism from water and fine dust; a quick blow to remove debris and a drop of oil will keep the operation smooth. The dark grey surface with the gold ring is easily wiped clean of grease, and the wrench can be hung on a panel or stored in a drawer with other sizes. In a workshop where the seventeen is used daily, it is worthwhile to have this size even outside the set.
