Overview
15 mm Ratchet Spanner with Ratchet Ring and Fixed Fork with Fine Tooth Gearing, 72 Teeth and 200 mm Body in Dark Grey Finish for Less Common Size

The fifteen millimetre size is one that cheaper sets often omit, even though it is regularly used. It is employed on pedals and axles of bicycles, on nuts of trailers, on battery clamps, and on components of older machines. This spanner addresses it independently and combines two ends into one tool. The closed head features a ratchet with 72 teeth, which engages another tooth after five degrees of rotation, allowing the nut to move even where the arm has no room to swing. The fixed fork, on the other hand, reaches connections accessible only from the side. The body is 200 mm long, which suits this size: it provides leverage for a firm tightening while still allowing the spanner to be operated with one hand. The ring has a width of 32.5 mm with a thickness of 10.5 mm, the open end measures 32 mm and is 7.5 mm thick. The surface is dark grey, the ratchet ring is gold-coloured, and the number 15 is stamped on both sides of the arm. The arm has a flat profile with a slight curve near the head, allowing it to be guided closely along the frame as well as along sheet metal.

  • Less Common Size 15 mm — a size that is often missing from sets, yet is commonly used in bicycles and trailer technology.
  • Ratchet Ring — the nut can be fitted and tightened in one motion back and forth, without the need to repeatedly reposition the spanner on the connection.
  • Engagement Every 5° — fine gearing allows the ring to engage even in places where the arm only fits between two parts, for instance between the crank and the frame.
  • 200 mm Body — the length corresponds to the torque of connections of this size and reduces the force needed when loosening a tightened nut.
  • 32 mm Fork — the open end with a thickness of 7.5 mm can reach nuts on tubes and rods, around which the ring cannot pass.
  • Direction Change Mechanism — the lever in the ratchet ring switches the direction, so one engagement is sufficient for both loosening and tightening.
  • Stamped Number 15 — the marking on both sides of the arm shortens the search when multiple spanners of similar shape are laid out on the table.

This tool is suitable for bicycle workshops, automotive workshops for trailer maintenance, and for repairs of older technology where the fasteners do not conform to the most common sizes. It is also useful for garden machinery and during the assembly of structures where this size appears on fittings and pins. The ratchet side allows for quick engagement and tightening of the connection, while a solid spanner or socket head is more suitable for the initial break of rusted nuts, as the gearing is not designed for impact loading. The ring must be fully engaged; otherwise, the torque is only transferred to part of the edges, and the nut will round off. Additionally, when dealing with pedals and axles, it is advisable to monitor the thread direction, as it may be reversed on one side. The thickness of the ring is 10.5 mm ensures that the gearing remains firmly engaged, and the head does not expand under pressure. It is advisable to protect the ratchet from water and fine dust and to occasionally blow it out with a drop of oil. The dark grey surface with a gold ring can be easily wiped clean of grease, and the spanner can be hung on a panel or stored in a drawer with other sizes.
