Overview
12 mm Ratchet Spanner with a Twelve-Sided Socket and Open End with 72 Teeth, 173 mm Long in Dark Grey Finish for the Workshop

The twelve mm size is one that hands in the workshop reach for most often, as it is found on bicycle engines, covers, and furniture joints. This spanner addresses it from both sides simultaneously: the closed socket is fitted with a ratchet, while the other end forms a classic open end. The 72-tooth gearing requires only five degrees of rotation for the next engagement, allowing the nut to be tightened even in places where the hand can barely move a few centimetres. The spanner measures 173 mm in length, and this measurement corresponds to the torque that the twelve mm size can withstand without risking over-tightening the joint. The socket is 27 mm wide with a thickness of 10 mm, the open end measures 25 mm with a thickness of 7.5 mm. The surface is dark grey, the ratchet ring has a golden hue, and the number 12 is embossed on both sides of the arm.

  • Ratchet directly in the socket — the nut can be tightened without removing the spanner, which speeds up work on joints hidden under guides or covers.
  • Engagement every 5° — the fine gearing moves the socket even when the arm encounters an obstacle before half a turn.
  • Twelve-Sided Socket — fits in twelve positions every 30°, making it easy to find a position where the arm does not collide.
  • Open End 12 mm — the sturdy end with a thickness of 7.5 mm can fit between pipes and nuts that are only accessible from the side, where a closed head cannot pass.
  • Compact Length 173 mm — the spanner fits into a bag or the pocket of overalls and does not obstruct when working in tight spaces under the bonnet.
  • Embossed Size 12 — the number on both sides of the arm shortens the search when multiple sizes are lying on the table next to each other.

Contents of the package:

  • 1x 12 mm Ratchet Spanner

The spanner is useful for car repairs, servicing bicycles and motorcycles, as well as for general home assembly where this size of joint appears most frequently. It is also helpful for assembling structures from threaded rods and for garden equipment. The ratchet side is used for tightening and quickly turning a loose nut, while a solid spanner is more suitable for loosening a heavily tightened or rusted joint. The socket must be applied fully flat; otherwise, the pressure concentrates on the corners, causing the edges of the nut to deform. The thickness of the socket is 10 mm, which keeps the gearing engaged even under the loads that are relevant for this size. The switch lever in the ring changes the direction of rotation, allowing for both tightening and loosening with the same application. It is advisable to keep sand out of the gearing and occasionally blow it out to maintain a smooth operation. The dark grey surface can be wiped clean of oil after use, and the spanner can be hung on a panel or stored in a drawer next to other sizes, where the embossed number will immediately reveal its size.
