Overview
Coffea arabica Himalaya Seeds 20 pcs Aromatic Mountain Variety for Growing Your Own House Coffee Plant

Coffea arabica 'Himalaya' is a unique representative of the Arabica coffee plant selected from the mountainous regions of northern India and Nepal, where it has long been adapted to cooler and more humid conditions. This bulk pack of 20 seeds provides sufficient reserves for nurturing several plants at once – whether for staggered sowing at different times, comparative trials, or long-term cultivation in a collection. Biologically, this variety is considered one of the most cold-resistant cultivars of Arabica.

The mature plant appears as a bushy tree with a robust green mass. The branches are covered with pairs of leathery leaves that have a deep green colour with a glossy surface. In the spring to summer period, white flowers with a characteristic jasmine scent appear in the leaf axils, which are self-pollinating and gradually turn into fruit – coffee cherries. The fruits ripen gradually from green to yellow and then to the deep red colour typical of fully ripe Arabica.

For a successful start to germination, it is advisable to soak the seeds in warm water for 36 hours before sowing and then plant them in a permeable substrate enriched with sand and perlite. The optimal germination temperature ranges from 25 to 28 °C with higher air humidity around 70%. Germination is irregular and usually takes 5 to 12 weeks. Young seedlings grow slower than classic Arabicas but are more robust and less prone to drying out.

Contents of the package:

  • 20 pcs of Coffea arabica 'Himalaya' seeds

The large pack of 20 seeds is advantageous for growers who wish to experiment long-term with this rare mountain variety or plan to cultivate several individual coffee plants for different locations in the home. Slow-ripening fruits in indoor culture create conditions for the gradual harvesting of coffee cherries over several months. Young plants can be shaped by pruning into the desired habit, or even into bonsai form. For successful long-term growth, it is important to water with stagnant or rainwater, provide partial shade without direct sunlight during midday hours, and regular fertilisation with special fertiliser for coffee plants or citrus. In winter, watering is significantly reduced, and the plant is moved to a cooler room with a temperature around 12 to 14 °C.
