Workout Belts
Proper support for the body plays an important role in strength training. Training belts help stabilise the core and reduce the strain on the lower back during heavy lifts. On this page you will find various types, from leather weightlifting belts to lighter Velcro versions suited to fitness and CrossFit.
Workout Belts
When lifting heavy weights or during demanding strength training, it is important to maintain proper technique and stability. Training belts support the abdominal and back area, helping to engage the core better and reduce the risk of overload. They are used above all for exercises such as squats, deadlifts and overhead presses.
It is not just about the material, but mainly about how the belt behaves during the lift itself. Leather belts hold a firm shape and provide substantial support during heavy attempts. Nylon Velcro belts, by contrast, allow quick tightening and release and adapt to dynamic movement.
Size and width significantly affect comfort and function. A wider belt braces the back area more, while a narrower design restricts you less when bending or rotating. The fastening affects handling – a buckle holds firmly, while Velcro allows quick adjustment even mid-session.
Training belts make most sense under higher loads. For lighter sets it is better to engage the stabilising muscles without support, so the body retains its natural strength and control. A well-chosen training belt thus helps keep strength training safe and effective.
