Christmas stockings for the fireplace
A hanging stocking is part of the traditional decorations on a fireplace, staircase or door, and by tradition it is filled with small gifts and sweets. The most numerous are red stockings measuring 15 × 25.7 cm with a white cuff and an embroidered letter, so every family member can have their own stocking with their initial. They hang from a loop or string on the fireplace, wall, door or Christmas tree.
Smaller 10 × 20 cm stockings with an initial come in a knitted version. The 24 × 40 cm stocking is made of non-woven fabric, while other models are made of fabric or linen. The 22 × 44 cm stocking shaped like an animal paw, made of non-woven fabric and plush, stands out.
The light-up unicorn stocking is 46 cm long and has small LED lights powered by two AA batteries, which are not included. The set of 12 mini stockings measuring 7 × 14.5 cm works as a small decoration, for example on the tree.
When choosing Christmas stockings for the fireplace, size matters most. Smaller ones hold sweets and small items, larger ones also fit bulkier gifts. Fabric stockings should not hang directly above an open fire.
